Rampart Casino And Bonkerz Comedy Hosts Friends, Entertainers And Fans For A March 23rd Celebration Of Legendary Comedian Marty Allen’s Life
Marty Allen, with wife and musical-comedy partner Karon Kate Blackwell, were set for a show in Vegas, celebrating his 96th birthday this Spring.
At 95, the long-time Las Vegan lived with passion. Allen enjoyed expresso at the Bagel Café, where his friends (many in the industry) filled the back room each weekend. He was always in the audience for old buddies performing in town, posing for pictures with anyone who had seen him on TV, on Ed Sullivan with the Beatles, on game shows, in films and on the Strip. His unforgettable face never took a bad photo. And he always had his famous “Hello Dere” for everyone.
Anyone who knew Allen knew his three loves: Karon Kate; entertaining his countless fans (anytime, anywhere;) and keeping up with his beloved home-town Pittsburgh Steelers, who recently sent him a signed team ball for his upcoming birthday.
No surprise, after entertaining fans all those years, Marty received a constant tide of letters and packages like that, each year. No matter how many, he personally handled fan mail, answering all. Busy man, at 95.
Then, Christmas last year, Marty fell and broke his hip. After what seemed like a remarkable recovery from surgery, joking with nurses and grabbing the phone to book their next tour, things took a terrible turn. The irrepressible funnyman lost a battle with pneumonia February 12th, 2018; peacefully passing away, Karon by his side, little more than a month before his 96th.
Marty Allen was laid to rest, at a private service in Los Angeles, February 16, 2018.
On March 23rd at 2PM, Rampart Casino in Vegas and Bonkerz Comedy Productions will host a Celebration of Life honoring Marty Allen, the day he would have turned 96. Family, friends, entertainers, fans are all welcome for an afternoon of fond memories and farewell performances. Marty Allen brought joy to millions through his very long career. Have a look on You Tube, Decades and MeTV. There he will stay young and alive in hearts forever. A meaningful life. Very well lived.
