I have to admit I haven’t spent a lot of time at Rampart Casino in Summerlin, but I did find myself there this past week. For someone whose first reason to go to a casino is usually the sportsbook and second to eat I was pleasantly surprised with both.
Last fall The Rampart remodeled their sportsbook and I am quite impressed with it. There is plenty of seating with TV’s everywhere. What I liked the most about the it was the relaxed lounge type atmosphere. There is a bar area with tables and chairs for that sports bar experience inside the book. I will be making more trips to hang out and have a drink while I bet and watch the games.
What’s nice about this set up is if you get hungry you can bring food back to the sportsbook area and have a bite while you watch the games or are betting the horses.
Inside the Rampart they have opened a new restaurant, the Clubhouse Deli, which is located just steps from the sportsbook.
This is an authentic New York style deli that would make any New Yorker proud. It has a very clean, crisp look and feel. The all white décor is pretty cool, and speaking of cool, the back wall of the deli is referred to as the “The Wall of Chill” as they have a wide selection of ice cold drinks to choose from.
If you are familiar with New York and its fine delis then you also are familiar with Dr. Brown’s Soda, which is one of the many beverages they carry at Clubhouse Deli. But let’s talk about the food.
If you want a good deli it has to start with the meats you use for your sandwiches. The Clubhouse Deli uses Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses. Boar’s Head is one of the best there is for quality and taste.
Next you need to use quality breads and rolls. When I get a sandwich, I can be a snob when it comes to the bread as mediocre bread and rolls can ruin a sandwich. I had no problems with the breads I tried on my visit. I sampled a few sandwiches but hands down my favorite was the Classic Reuben on marble rye. Nothing says deli sandwich like a Reuben with the corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Thousand Island Dressing all on marble rye. The Clubhouse Deli nailed this one.
You can get a variety of hot and cold sandwiches along with burgers and dogs. The hot dogs are Footlong Hebrew Nationals, again using the highest quality meats for their offerings.
The menu has a great selection of salads, soups and chili. One of the soups is of course Matzo Ball Soup. You aren’t an authentic New York deli without it.
If all of that wasn’t already enough, be sure to save room or at least get something to go because the desserts are absolutely incredible and made fresh on site. So many places take the easy way out these days and just order from an outside vendor – but not here. Trust me, you can taste the difference. The display case will boggle your mind. The desserts are big enough to share but that’s no fun. Who wants to share? You also can get breakfast sandwiches and bagels with lox or a shmear.
The combination of a great sportsbook with a great food option makes The Clubhouse Deli and Sportsbook a winning parlay. Trust me, there are a lot of great sportsbooks around town but not a lot that have a great food option right next to it.
I give The Clubhouse Deli 3.75 Forks out of 4.
